Research associate, Cellular and Molecular Biology and Center for Brain Science ,

I am a research associate in Naoshige Uchida lab at Harvard. I started my professional career as a software engineer. Then I decided to study neuroscience and focused on how the brain processes visual information to make perceptual decisions in monkeys. I published a few papers about this topic. Now I am studying dopamine to understand how reward or information is processed and stored in the brain using mice. Here is my CV .

Education

2013 Ph.D., Brain and Cognitive Sciences, University of Rochester, NY, USA
2007 M.S., Program in Neuroscience, Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea
2005 B.S., Computer Science and Engineering, Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea

Research Interest

Humans and animals navigate 3D space to maximize reward. During navigation, we evaluate good and bad, remember the place where we had decicious lunch, and re-visit there with high expectation. I am interested in the neural computation of valence-based decision making in space and the underlying learning mechanisms.

Programs and Documents

I was a software developer before getting into neuroscience. I believe writing good codes that help colleagues is another way to contribute to science.
